Blended Learning Academy - Summer 2010

Who?

§  Students who plan early graduation, need to make up credits, or need options for a more flexible schedule.

 

§  Any student in grades 9-12 who lives within the Maize district boundaries, is self-motivated, and wants flexible hours to work at a self-structured or accelerated pace.

 

§  The Blended Learning Academy is designed for students who need computer access or a more structured environment. Computers and instructors are provided onsite for course assistance. Individual attendance schedules will be designed upon enrollment.

 

What?

§   Courses are offered both online and through the blended learning academy.

   

§   All courses are taught by experienced teachers certified by the Kansas Department of Education.

 

§   Courses are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week through Blackboard.  This software allows course content and assignments to be accessed at any time by the student.

Where/When?

 

§   Courses can be accessed from any computer with internet access. Computer courses REQUIRE Office 2007.

  

§   A computer lab at Maize High School will be available for students enrolled in the blended learning program from 8am -12 noon June 7-25. (Some courses may extend into July)-This lab has Office 2007 available. 

  

§   Arrangements for additional lab time are available.

How to Enroll?

§   Click here to download the registration form with payment to the high school's accounting office - 8th graders should turn their forms in to their middle school office.

 

§   Deadline to enroll: Dr Ed: May 6, All Others: May 21

 

§   Cost: $200 per.5 credit  $400 per 1.0 credit; $200 for driver's ed.

§   Orientation is required for all students. Parents must accompany incoming freshmen to the orientation.
